YALA AFRICA was founded in 2013 as a Facebook-based movement dedicated to the empowerment of youth across the African continent. With over 160,000 members from more than 20 African nations - including Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Nigeria - we are the largest online pan-African youth movement to date. In addition to our online presence, we have field projects in Kigali, Rwanda, and Freetown, Sierra Leone, focused on youth empowerment, ICTs and food security. These youth-led projects, which are implemented in cooperation with a vast network of local and international partners, have spurred YaLa Africa to register as an NGO in both Rwanda and in Sierra Leone. We aim to replicate this model of grassroots-led change in other Sub-Saharan African cities and to support

our changemakers by promoting their work through our Facebook page and online networks.

YaLa Africa is partnered with YaLa Young Leaders, an online movement for young activists from the Middle East and North Africa that counts 1 million members dedicated to promote peace and dialogue.
