We believe in the power of youth to use social media and online networks for the common good. We see a world where African youth from across the continent and globally are empowered to learn with and from each other to bring about social justice and change in their communities, cities and countries in simple yet concrete ways. With youth and for youth, we aim to use our page as an activists' platform: a catalyst for human rights action and an open source of information sharing.
Our Facebook Activities
Breaking down boundaries

Thanks to social media, today's youth collaborate in ways never before possible. It is projected that by 2025, Africa will have tripled its Internet coverage reaching 600 million users. By using new technologies for the common good, YaLa Africa aims to break down the physical boundaries that hinder communication and information-sharing in order to inspire and support youth in promoting human rights, social justice and economic development in their communities in simple yet concrete ways.
A platform for dialogue

Sharing vital information

Two of our main themes are HIV/AIDS Awareness and Nutrition & Food Security. Our weekly online HIV/AIDS Campaign engages youth to openly discuss this important topic with their peers, fighting stigma, debunking myths and encouraging prevention and awareness. On average, 60% of our members engage in this life-saving dialogue weekly. Through our Facebook posts, we also share other vital health, hygiene and nutrition information, including tips from the field on community farming and micro-gardening, as well as news related to our other main themes, which include gender equality and women's empowerment, education, innovation, African arts, sports and culture, and more!

We aim to create a platform for dialogue and cooperation not only among African youth throughout the continent, but also with the wider world. This dialogue is intended to be operative in a way that will connect activists from different fields (arts & culture, sports, education, public health, peacebuilding, etc.) to their local communities, to each other, and to like-minded individuals around the world in an egalitarian way. We hope this platform will bring people together to share new and innovative ideas to bring about positive change, on the one hand; and discuss the active implementation of these ideas, on the other. Through this online dialogue and activism, we also expect to provide new insight about the African continent to the rest of the world.
